In this new series, I will be sharing real lucid dreams from my personal dream journal. I will detail my methods to induce the lucid dream and any dream control tactics I use during the dream. My hope is that you can use these reports to help inform your own dream practice and incorporate some of the lessons that I learn as well as gain inspiration for your next lucid dream.
Lucid Dream – Suburban Sunrise
Date: 6/12/24
Dream Goals: No set goals other than to become lucid.
Techniques Used: This past week, I re-read one of my favorite books, ‘The Power of Now’ by Eckhart Tolle. It has really inspired me to foster my presence and live lucidly. The following lucid dream occurred spontaneously, the second time this week this has happened.

“I wake up in my bed, or so I thought (false awakening). I have an intuitive knowing that if I tried to have a lucid dream, I would succeed. I relax fully and attempt to ‘peel off” my dream body from my physical body. I was successful and curious as to whether or not I was having some sort of out-of-body experience or astral projecting. I look down and see my sleeping body in my bed, but the position I am laying in was different than the position I remember falling asleep in. I performed a nose-pinch reality check and confirmed that I was indeed dreaming!
I float out of my apartment window only to find myself in the neighborhood where I grew up as a kid. I float around and just enjoy the fact that I am lucid in the dream world. It never gets old! I float into the sky and observe how bright and vivid the trees are. I notice that the neighborhood I am seeing is quite different from in waking life. I look into the sky and see a beautiful sunrise. The sky is filled with swirling pink, dark purple, and orange colors. I soak in the present moment.“
It’s funny how the dream started out as a false awakening. You could say I had a lucid dream within a dream! I believe the increase in spontaneous lucid dreams is the result of trying to live lucidly, ala Eckhart Tolle. I have been working hard this week to fill my days with more presence and lucidity, fostering present moment awareness wherever I can. It has quickly paid off and resulted in two spontaneous lucid dreams in a matter of days. Excited to see what happens as I try to live more lucidly, day by day.
