Lucid Dream Report – Beach Scene

In this new series, I will be sharing real lucid dreams from my personal dream journal. I will detail my methods to induce the lucid dream and any dream control tactics I use during the dream. My hope is that you can use these reports to help inform your own dream practice and incorporate some of the lessons that I learn as well as gain inspiration for your next lucid dream.

Dream Goals: My goal is to converse with a dream character to see what interesting responses I get

Techniques Used: I woke up naturally after about 5 hours of sleep to record a dream. I used this dream as a basis for a MILD attempt. I woke up briefly at some point from a normal dream, used MILD again and it resulted in a brief lucid dream.

Time: 5:35

“I am on some sort of beach boardwalk at night. I am walking with a childhood friend of mine and another fellow who I don’t know in real life. I suddenly realize I am dreaming. I remember my dream goal to converse with dream characters. I say to both of them:

‘Do you guys think we are dreaming?’ – me

They look around for a moment. ‘No I don’t think so’ says my friend.

‘Look again. This time try to fly.’  -me

My friend begins to float away into the night sky.

‘Wow I guess we are dreaming!’ says the other fellow

Notes: I decided to perform a MILD even though I just woke up from a dream, knowing that a REM period would be far away. But I did wake up in the middle of this sleep cycle, and performed a quick MILD and it worked out in mu favor, spawning a brief lucid dream. It’s interesting that the beach scene that I used for my MILD attempt manifested as another beach scene in this lucid dream.
